Mushkegowuk Releases Unofficial Nomination Report

2023 General Election is underway and lead by Chief Electoral Officer, Sherry A. Davey. Nominations had been open from June 11, 2023 and had closed on July 20, 2023. A total of 10 nominations has been reported by the Chief Electoral Officer, Sherry A. Davey.

This will be the first time that the Mushkegowuk Territory will have two Deputy Grand Chiefs since adopting the new Election Code at the 2023 Spring Omushkegowuk Annual General Assembly. The two Deputy Grand Chief positions will split the area and one will represent the Northern Communities of Attawapiskat First Nation, Fort Albany First Nation, Kashechewan First Nation, and Moose Cree First Nation. The second Deputy Grand Chief will represent the Southern Communities of Taykwa Tagamou Nation, Chapleau Cree First Nation, and Missanabie Cree First Nation.
